Why perform a patent search?

  1. The most obvious reason is to determine whether or not you can get a patent or if your invention has already been patented. Ask us for a NOVELTY search.
  2. Find out if you are (or will be) infringing someone else's right. Ask us for an INFRINGEMENT search.
  3. learning more about a new field
  4. for market information
  5. competitor tracking
  6. technology tracking

Contact Patmark to perform a search before you start to invest a lot of money in protecting and promoting your invention.

We also regularly search:

  • Other countries and regions' patent databases using reputable interfaces such as DIALOG.
Ask us about the countries you are interested in.
  • Journals, articles, chemical databases...
  • for patents by specific inventors and patentees.
Ask us for a NOMINAL INDEX search.
  • to see if the patent number you know about has been done in other countries and regions.
Ask us for an EQUIVALENT search.

To do a good search you must tell us how your invention works, NOT how you will use your invention. For example, an improvement on an automobile switch will be found with switches--not with automobiles. Why? Because the invention is a switch, not an automobile.

At Patmark we understand patent language. For example, the phrase "Four rectangular uprights supporting a planar surface" describes a table.
